Confirm HPS vs. EPS first: Check for a power steering fluid reservoir under the bonnet. No reservoir = electric power steering. Do not order a hydraulic pump for an EPS vehicle.

For hydraulic pumps — confirm engine size: Many platforms have engine-specific pump variants. A 2.4L and 3.5L version of the same model often use different pumps with different pulley sizes and bracket configurations.

For EPS units — provide your full VIN: Assist calibration, torque sensor sensitivity, and connector configurations can differ between trim levels within the same model year.

Always flush the system on pump replacement: A failing hydraulic pump sends metal debris through the entire system. Install a clean pump into a contaminated circuit and it will fail prematurely for the same reason.
