⚠️ Tyre Circumference Must Match on All Four Wheels
Subaru's symmetrical AWD system is uniquely sensitive to tyre circumference differences between axles. All four tyres must be within ¼ inch circumference of each other at all times — including when a used drivetrain component is installed. Mismatched tyres force the centre differential to compensate continuously, causing premature wear and failure of any replacement AWD component regardless of its condition. Always check tyre wear and circumference before completing a Subaru drivetrain repair.
Turbo vs. Naturally Aspirated — Different Components
Subaru's turbocharged applications (WRX, STI, XT, Legacy GT) use different engine mounting brackets, intercooler ducting, and in some cases different subframe configurations from naturally aspirated variants of the same body style.
